Chuck Peden, Dave Monterey (aka Dave Moore) and Michael F Gould met as freshmen in high school in 1967. In 1971, they formed the band Korral, later renamed Cahoots. After breaking up in 1974, they threw themselves a reunion a year later in 1975, calling it The First Annual Redwood Jam. That was prescient, as the jam did become an annual event operating every year (except 2) for 40 years, drawing together not only the original band, but all the splinter bands of its members.
In 2004, the three musicteers banded together once more to produce an album, this time under the name The Woods: Spirits of the Woods. In 2010, they got together to write more songs and publlshed an album, again under the moniker The Woods called Three Rivers.
In 2021, they decided it was time again. So they have been underway writing an album, as yet unnamed, about the experience of being lifelong musicians, meeting regularly to pen new songs, collaborating in person and online. The first finished piece, Sterilinda, was completed in 2023, and features only players and singers who graduated from Terra Linda High School.
There's a lot more to come. Stay tuned.
